The Belonging and Community Workshop, led by Diz Synnot, was a great success and much appreciated by all involved.  The group was very warmed up to the theme, particularly in regard to our sense and experiences of belonging to the psychodrama community and AANZPA as an organisation.

The theme was reprised with enthusiasm at the following Professional Development gathering on August 30th, ably led by Kath Howard.

Colleen Guray presented a very stimulating organisational case study to members at the September AGM gathering. A traumatic workplace event at one of Colleen's client organisations presented significant challenges for the leadership team. Colleen shared, in action, the intervention approach which she adopted to unleash the spontaneity and humanity of the team.

Jo Dewar read from her psychodrama thesis in progress Finding The Humanity In Domestic Violence, at the August professional development gathering.

Jo works on a domestic violence phone support service and generously shared some of her experiences with the group. It was deeply moving to connect with the life experiences of the callers and the fleeting nature of the opportunity that exists for counsellors to support them over the tenuous reach of a telephone connection. Jo's sensitivity and imagination in being able to create and hold a virtual stage on which her clients could feel heard and valued was inspiring.

Oliver O'Connell presented on his psychodrama thesis in progress Working With Shame and Helplessness, at the May professional development gathering. There was a great roll up and the group was highly stimulated by Oliver's presentation and working in action, with much discussion flowing.

Oliver's presentation has got us off to a fine start in strengthening the professional development focus of our gatherings! PD attendance certificates are availble on request (contact Jenny).

At the August gathering we will be hearing from Jo Dewar regarding her thesis in progress "Regaining A Sense of Humanity: Using Psychodrama on an Emergency Crisis Phone Line".
